What’s in my glam bag? Ipsy July 2018

Ipsy is a beauty subscription service that offers monthly Glam Bags tailored to your beauty profile, delivered straight to your door. It costs $10 USD per month, plus $5 USD for shipping to Canada, which comes out to be around $20 CAD depending on the exchange rate. If you’re interested, you can sign up here through my referral link, and we’ll both get bonus points!

The theme for this month’s Ipsy Glam Bag is Summer Love. Its all about summer treats to beat the heat and keep you glam at a pool party or the beach! The makeup bag for July 2018 is a bright blue with holographic reflects and a white zipper. I think it feels so summery because the blue fabric reminds me of shimmering water in a pool! It also looks like it would make a super cute swimsuit! Here’s what I got this month:

Ipsy July 2018 Glambag

1. Smashbox Sudio Skin Concealer

I received this concealer in the shade Light. I typically match well with most brands’ Light shades, but I found this one was paler than I’m used to. Maybe it was just more cool-toned than my skin, so looked very fair. Regardless, once blended out it gives a nice highlight effect to the under eye area and covers my dark circles nicely. Will continue to use to get a true review on it’s wear. This was a full-sized item and it retails for $29 CAD at Sephora. Right there, the cost of the glam bag is covered, and then some!

2. It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Lite

This is a deluxe size (59.1 ml) product from It’s a 10 Haircare. It is a leave-in conditioner that claims to condition, detangle, protect, defrizz, and more, all while being super light weight. I have fine hair, so anything that won’t weigh my hair down is good in my books! I use a leave in conditioner every time I wash my hair so I am excited to try this out. This size retails for $12.33 USD on their website, which comes out to about $16 CAD.

3. Purlisse Body Scrub

This is a new product from Purlisse. This body scrub is made with coconut oil, refined coffee beans, and sugar cane granules to exfoliate and moisturize your skin. It smells divine! This came with 20 g of product, and this deluxe size retails for $10 USD on the Purlisse website, which comes out to about $13 CAD.

4. Sundays No. 45

This is a nail polish from the brand Sundays in the shade no. 45, a beautiful powder blue, reminiscent of a clear sky on a sunny day. I hadn’t heard of this brand prior to July’s glam bag, but upon some research I was happy to discover that they are a vegan, cruelty-free, 10-free, and non-toxic nail care company. I have shellac on my nails as I write this, but this shade is calling my name and will be used as soon as I take off the shellac! This bottle of polish retails for $18 USD, equal to about $24 CAD.

5. Steve Laurant Blush

Steve Laurant is also a brand that is new to me. Thats one of the best things about Ipsy, discovering brands that you may not have tried before, or may not have even heard of! This is a baked blush that boasts a highly pigmented, cruelty-free formula with no fall-out. I got this in the shade Rosé all Day, a medium-toned muted Rose that is a perfect blush shade. It applies sheer initially, and gives a very natural wash of colour. Some products claim to be a sheer formula, but it takes some finesse for anything to even show up. This is not one of those formulas. It is a true sheer formula, the colour is very present, but skin pokes through and it blends out beautifully. It’s also awesome because you can build it up to a fuller colour. This blush retails for $22 USD on the Steve Laurant website, which comes to about $29 CAD.

Final Thoughts

Overall I thought this was a very good glam bag! I am happy with all the products, as they are all things that I will use. My favourite would have to be the blush, becasue I think it gives such a pretty flushed-from-within look. My least favourite product is probably the Purlisse body scrub, because I rarely use body exfoliators, although now is as good a time as any to start! Also, the total value of this bag was pretty wild. It cost me ~$20 CAD and the products were worth about $111 CAD! That’s insane, over 90$ more than I paid!

  1. I’ve used the It’s a 10 Leave-in Treatment (the original, not the lite version) for years and I love it. I have super tangly hair that is also super fine and it gets every tangle out and leaves it so smooth and soft. I found the best way to apply it was to spray it in my hands and run it through the bottom half of my hair – it was too intense to get anywhere close to my roots. Hopefully you like it too! 🙂

    1. That’s a great tip! Thanks, I’m definitely going to try that tomorrow morning after I wash my hair! I have the exact same hair type as you – fine and tangles easily – and using a leave in conditioner and a Tangle Teezer brush has saved my life!
